Meet the Monsters
Sadness
Sadness is pretty down on itself. It may try to fool you with a mask that has a smile on it, but in reality, Sadness feels like a worthless lump o' poo. It says things like, "What's the point to anything?" and, "You should just give up on me..." and, "I'm just a waste of space..."
That's an awful way to feel! No one is ever a waste of space or a lump o' poo, and there definitely is a point to everything. Show Sadness you won't give up on it. Things are gonna be okay! |
Anger
Anger is really upset! It's so upset that it's on fire from all that rage and all that pain. Anger says stuff like, "I hate everything! Nothing is fair!!" and, "You think you're so great! I don't need you!" and, "This is all YOUR fault!!"
The thing about Anger is that you can't fight fire with fire! Have you ever tried that? Everything burns, and there's nothing left in the end. The only way to put out the flames is to forgive and let it all go. You gotta wonder, though, who is Anger really mad at? |
Anxiety
Anxiety is quivering with so much fear and doubt, it has turned into a storm cloud of electricity! Anxiety says things like, "Oh no, oh no, the whole world is falling apart...!" and, "You're so much better than me...how am I going to do this...?" and, "I feel like I'm having a heart attack!!"
That's so much weight to bear, and that's a lot to get through. Don't give up on Anxiety, though! Let your new friend know that you believe in them! And also tell them to breathe in through their nose and out through their mouth. That should help with the panic attack. |
